Victoria is a songwriter, musician and curator, originally from rural Dorset (south west UK), and now living and working in London. She performs in the UK and Europe and also tours with Chris Letcher (www.letchermusic.com) – most recently to the US, Canada, South Africa and Australia. She began singing jazz professionally ten years ago before starting to perform her own material in 2004. If
the jazz influence is still evident, the tone is more Joni than Ella, and the mood closer to alt-country and folk.
The unique, half old-fashioned sound this combination produces is at once mournful and jubilant, and if she fits into the alt-folk territory occupied by Newsom and Spektor, she has nonetheless carved out something
different, with a voice that ‘spins you out on sweet melodious breakdowns…sad songs that make you kinda happy ‘ (Durban Scouts) Victoria released her solo EP ‘Small Miracles for Shabby Minds’ in 2004, and the ‘Electricity’ EP with her band Moth in 2005. She is currently completing a new album, and performing in the UK and Europe in the run up to North by North East (Toronto) this June.
